Motoon is a venture that strives to connect techies to progressive causes and local communities in need of their skills.
Over 80 people engaged in wildly different kinds of feminist activism across the world gathered together in Malaysia in early October, 2017, to discuss what does it mean to build movements around feminist principles, women’s rights, sexuality and related issues in the digital age. Because there is a lot that we can do as feminist activists, in this edition GenderIT.org takes a peek at the Making a Feminist Internet meeting.

APC’s subgranting programme in its second year awarded a total of USD 273,986 to support its members in achieving APC’s vision. Eighteen member organisations were recipients of 21 grants, and funds were also used to support the research for 28 national GISWatch 2017 reports.
The actions captured in this report reflect the energy, diversity and growth of the APC network. New members AlterMundi, from Argentina, Point of View, from India, Rhizomatica, from Mexico, Social Media Exchange (SMEX), from Lebanon, and Zenzeleni Networks, from South Africa, have added to the richness of the APC community and the breadth of our reach.
Getting all of our members together is a celebration of the work we have done and the work still ahead. After our last members meeting in Barcelona, Spain, in 2014, the APC network is meeting again from 18 to 20 August in Ithala, South Africa.
Palestinian NGO 7amleh – Arab Center for Social Media Advancement focuses on improving the skills and capacities of Palestinian and Arab civil society through training on social media activism skills and methodologies. Today we proudly welcome them as the latest addition to the APC network.
7amleh-The Arab Center for Social Media Advancement is a non-profit organisation aimed at enabling Palestinian and Arab civil society to effectively utilise the tools of digital advocacy through professional capacity building, defending digital rights and building influential digital media campaigns.
Rafik is a computer engineer working and living in Japan after finishing his master on applied computer science at University of Tokyo.
This submission highlights areas of concern that Social Media Exchange (SMEX) and APC hope will inform the Human Rights Committee’s consideration of the Lebanese government’s compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights concerning Article 17, on the right to privacy.
