Throughout 2022, APC members have worked hard to seed change that is impactful and sustainable. This year we connected with 11 members to explore in-depth stories of their diverse and inspiring projects, undertaken with the support of APC subgrants.
in 2021, we highlighted 27 stories of impact and change by our members, supported by APC subgranting. These stories demonstrate that listening to multiple voices and learning from positive impacts made locally are important ways to keep seeding and harvesting change.
Rather than talking about what the internet ‘can’ do, we can reflect on what it has done and use evidence to anticipate the future and adapt our policies. But doing so requires more sophisticated and holistic ways of measuring its impact.
How are APC members improving their communities’ lives? We are launching a new column, “Seeding change”, to feature some of the stories of change that are being weaved by members of the APC network in each of their contexts and communities.

This report on the state of freedom of peaceful assembly and association online in Pakistan forms part of the baseline research conducted for the APC-IMPACT project, which aims to address restrictions on the internet by promoting and protecting internet rights in India, Malaysia and Pakistan.
Bytes for All, Pakistan has launched a new report that focuses on local and international advocacy initiatives to improve Pakistan’s compliance with international human rights law and practices in relation to freedom of assembly and of association online.
This paper, produced as part of the APC project Advocacy for Change through Technology in India, Malaysia and Pakistan (APC-IMPACT), draws upon the work previously done by APC in providing guidance to the interpretation of the rights to freedom of association and assembly in the digital age.
