Strategic use of the internet
Carlos joined APC's Communications and Information Policy Programme (CIPP) in August as coordinator of the project "Local Access Networks: Can the unconnected connect themselves?", implemented in partnership with Rhizomática from Mexico and with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). APCNews interviewed him to know more about his history and how and why he joined the community of people and organisations working to connect the unconnected.
The APC communications team has a new member: her name is Cathy Chen, born in Taiwan and Canadian by choice, but mostly a world traveller. She joined the APC staff in July as our new publications and multimedia coordinator. She defines herself as a "visual communication strategist" and has a strong interest in cultural diversity. For the last few years Pangea has been involved in the eReuse.org project, dedicated to promoting and facilitating the reuse of computers and other electronic devices. The project’s main goal is to extend the lifetime of these products through repair, refurbishment and reuse, to ensure final recycling.
