The seventh Internet Governance Forum (IGF) of Latin America and the Caribbean, held in San Salvador July 16-18, 2014, provided an opportunity for reflecting on and contributing to internet governance in the region. In August, the Sixth Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Internet Governance Forum took place in Argentina and showed that women are making headway in the Latin American forum. The involvement of young women in internet governance discussions about privacy and security and freedom of expression, gender analysis remains absent.
The Argentinian city of Córdoba hosted this year’s regional preparatory meeting for the Latin America and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum. APC was an organisers of the event with Lacnic, Ageia Densi, Internet Society, ICANN, NIC.br, CGI.br and Google, and also provided comprehensive news coverage.
The next LAC Internet Governance Forum will be held in Argentina from 27-29 of August. In preparation for the event, the organisers launched a public survey to define and structure the agenda.

Together with its partners, APC is pleased to announce the fifth regional preparatory meeting in LAC for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), to be held in late 2012. As with the four previous IGF events, the purpose of the meeting is to provide a space for multi-stakeholder political dialogue.
Registration for the third Latin American and the Caribbean Internet Governance Forum is now open. The event will take place from 3-5 August in Quito, Ecuador. There will be financial assistance for representatives of organisations active in internet issues from LAC.
