Karla Velasco Ramos

Karla Velasco studied international relations at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and is currently the policy advocacy coordinator of APC's Women's Rights Programme. From 2019 to 2022 she was the Latin America regional coordinator of the project “Connecting the Unconnected”, implemented by APC and Rhizomatica, through its partner organisation Redes por la Diversidad, Equidad y Sustentabilidad A.C. (REDES AC). She is passionate about community networks, internet governance, gender studies and human rights.

Purpose of position

The women's rights policy advocacy coordinator coordinates APC's women's rights policy advocacy work in a way that is consistent with the APC Women's Rights Programme's strategic objectives to ensure that policy discussions and processes related to digital rights integrate and prioritise gender, women's rights and sexual rights concerns.
