This report presents a summary of some aspects in the discussion in Latin America regarding human rights and the internet, and was specially produced to increase the understanding of the region among the international community gathered at the 2014 Internet Government Forum (IGF) in Istanbul.
As part of its commitment to strengthening local civil society organisations (CSO) and their causes, Nodo TAU focuses on access to technology, capacity building and increasing visibility for local CSOs. Nodo TAU is currently undergoing a process of redefinition and is concentrating on the third aim. The web portal enREDando is dedicated to dissemination of the initiatives of local social organisations.

This document summarizes the discussions in Latin America regarding human rights and the internet. Our intention is to increase the international community’s understanding of the region during the 2014 Internet Government Forum.
Partners of the “End Violence: Women’s rights and safety online” project have participated in three regional internet governance forums (Africa IGF, Asia Pacific IGF, LAC IGF). APC interviewed our members who attended and the impact their participation had on tech-related violence against women.
The seventh Internet Governance Forum (IGF) of Latin America and the Caribbean, held in San Salvador July 16-18, 2014, provided an opportunity for reflecting on and contributing to internet governance in the region.
