The eighth annual AfriSIG will take the form of an online event aimed at strengthening networking among the alumni who have participated in previous editions of the School and giving them the opportunity for deeper engagement in a few key current topics in internet governance in Africa.
The APC Impact Report 2016-2019 encapsulates the APC network's high level impact over the four years of our strategic cycle, which ended in 2019. While the report looks back at our work, it also brings us forward through the strategic direction that we set for ourselves in the next four years.
The fifth session of the African Internet Resilience webinar series took place on 30 July. The focus of the session was to foster a deeper understanding of complementary networks and address the need for internet services in rural and underserved areas across the continent.
APC, the Information Society Division of the African Union Commission and Research ICT Africa are accepting applications for this year's edition of AfriSIG, which will be held immediately prior to and linked to the African Internet Governance Forum. The deadline for applications is 1 June.
In the wake of another successful school, it is worth reflecting on AfriSIG’s development and direction – how has it evolved since its inception and how might it continue to grow, in terms of diversity and representation, curriculum development and movement building?
The School's primary goal is to give Africans from multiple sectors and stakeholder groups the opportunity to gain knowledge that will enable them to participate in internet governance processes and debates at the national, regional and global levels.
