“It’s time for Facebook to provide equal treatment and protection for all who use and depend on Facebook as a central platform for online expression and communication.”    

The undersigned civil and human rights organisations call on French parliamentarians to reject the draft law on surveillance measures for international electronic communications (Proposition de loi relative aux mesures de surveillance des communications électroniques internationales). The bill fails to defend and protect the right to privacy of individuals worldwide.

APC joins open letter by civil rights groups worldwide against the Surveillance Bill to be adopted in France. We urge the French Parliament to reject it and protect the rights of individuals all around the world.

This toolkit aims to assist activists to think through their communication strategies in a way that supports movement building. It offers a practical guide to writing a communication strategy and reviews a number of tools (ICTs) and technology-related campaigns which can be used in organising work.    

APC submits a statement to UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, David Kaye, that makes the case that whistleblowers need strong legal protections to protect them from retaliation and enable them to report offences safely and freely.    

APC welcomes the appointment of Mr. Joseph Cannataci as the first United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy, which was announced on 3 July. Cannataci’s appointment is a historic step to address the right to privacy at the global level.
