APC and the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency are pleased to announce the call for applications for the third African School on Internet Governance.

On 20 February, APC submitted its input to the consultation on the NETmundial Initative (NMI) terms of reference. The input affirmed APC’s principled stance towards supporting inclusive, transparent and democratic spaces in internet governance working in the public interest.
During the December 2014 Multistakeholder Advisory Group meeting, the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) community decided to work towards further tangible IGF outputs. An Open Call for Input on Inter-sessional activities was launched. Read APC’s response.
Forty-five participants from civil society organisations and governments from all over Africa joined the African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG) on 21-26 November to discuss and come up with joint projects and ideas on these issues.
How does the internet work? How is it managed and developed? While the importance of universalising internet access and use becomes increasingly recognised, reflection on the concrete aspects of internet governance is often missing. This is why APC organises events like the National Meeting on Internet Governance – Ecuador, which will take place on 27 November.
Capacity and expertise in internet governance in Africa will take another step forward with the second annual African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG). The school, which has received an overwhelming response – 650 applicants, of which 45 have been selected – will take place on 21-25 November 2014 in Mauritius.
The 2014 Internet Governance Forum (IGF), “Connecting Continents for Enhanced Multistakeholder Internet Governance”, demonstrated the IGF's maturity by taking strides towards becoming more outcome-oriented.
