In India, the drive for the digitisation of services, combined with offline violence, marginalisation and stigma, make it almost impossible for transgender persons to be considered as people who deserve equal rights.
The integrated biometric database system in Kenya exposes multilayered challenges of statelessness, loss of basic human rights and obstacles to availing government services. Through conversations with Mariam, a Nubian woman we learn about the tedious and lengthy process to obtain an ID card.
How are APC partners improving their communities' lives? By working side-by-side with the local community, La Différence builds Pamoja Net, a community-owned network providing internet access, while facilitating technological learning for youth on the island of Idjwi.

APC member in India Point of View has been awarded an Omidyar Network Digital Society Challenge grant to create a platform that will provide low-income women access to digital safety information, as well as a helpline to assist women facing issues such as harassment and fraud online.
