Community-owned networks provide alternative, locally driven and sustainable solutions that are critical in addressing connectivity gaps in Africa. To explore these solutions, the next session of the Virtual Summit on Community Networks in Africa is taking place on 25 November 2020.
APC’s local access and community networks team hosted a webinar called “We ♥ Bamboo: How to grow and construct your own bamboo masts for extending rural connectivity – sharing experiences”. The "Pilot Mentoring Project to Develop Community Networks in South Africa" was implemented from October 2019 to April 2020 in the field by Zenzeleni Networks NPC, through an agreement between APC and the UK Government's Digital Access Programme. What follows is part of our effort to capture the activities, results and lessons learned from the Pilot Mentoring project.
