Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)
Sida is a government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world. Through their work and in cooperation with others, they contribute to implementing Sweden’s Policy for Global Development (PGU). They carry out enhanced development cooperation with a total of 35 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The selection of cooperation countries are based on political decisions made by the Swedish government.

At this year’s Stockholm Internet Forum (SIF), as in years past, the APC network was actively engaged, by organising, co-organising, speaking at and participating in sessions and workshops. The theme of SIF 2019 was “Shrinking Democratic Space Online”.

The APC community will be actively participating in the Stockholm Internet Forum (SIF), organised by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), which is taking place 16-17 May, preceded by the activities happening at the Pre-SIF on 15 May.
Amid growing concern about digital surveillance and the restriction of rights online, APC and its network have continued to fight for a free and open internet that protects and enables human rights for all. This overview explores how the APC community worked to protect and promote rights in 2018.
