APC has just received the very sad news that our long-time friend and collaborator, Mike de Beer, died earlier this week. We send our condolences to his family. This is the message we received on August 7…

"Michael died yesterday while on a camping trip with his girlfriend Angela and her family, of an apparent heart attack. We had celebrated Mike’s 33rd birthday last week and spent a wonderful time with them just before they left. Michael was deeply engaged in his life with Angela, in his work as a faith based organizer, in his active life of kayaking, aikido and running. He was excited about strengthening his relationship with God and finding balance in his life. Tricia, John, Angela, Christopher, and Jen are heartbroken.

The funeral is on 11am on Friday at the Church of Our Redeemer, 6 Meriam St., Lexington, Massachusetts, 02420. A lunch reception will follow and all are welcome.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the organization into which Mike was pouring his amazing talent and passion; Richmonders Involved to Strengthen Our Communities (RISC), 400 West 32nd St, Richmond, VA 23225. Please keep us in your prayers.

Peace, John, Tricia, Chris, Jen, and Sadie"
