Do you think the government should legislate on this issue? Or should it be left to the individual to choose what to access, communicate and share? What about the role of the private sector? Or communities of content creators, technology developers and users? How can the right to safety stand with the right to communicate

when it comes to harmful content?

On 12-15 November 2007, the second Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Brazil, where civil society, the private sector and governments will meet to discuss about policy directions and priorities on the deployment of the internet globally. Among the issues discussed is should and how content on the internet be regulated.

We have seen governments and other groups use the language of protecting society — especially women and children — from harm to justify various forms internet censorship. What do you think?
