International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD)

In 2002 IICD funded ItrainOnline coordination and hosting; and the “Civil Society and ICT Policy in Africa” workshop co-organised with Article 19, the Open Society Institute Western Africa (OSIWA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). In 2005 it provided support for GenARDIS.

The knowledge-sharing workshop will be a space to enable the 15 grantees to share outcomes as well as to discuss best practices and lessons learned. It will also be used to gather case studies and stories to feed into the ongoing programmes of partner institutions, as well as for GenARDIS’ own evaluation process. The Gender, Agriculture and Rural Development in the Information Society (GenARDIS) small grants fund was developed in 2002 to support work on gender-related issues in ICTs for agricultural and rural development in the African, Caribbean and Pacific regions. In 2008, the third round of small grants was issued, and projects are currently being implemented.
