T B Dinesh

Biography

T B Dinesh is a community media activist with a background in computer science. For over two decades, he has been part of Janastu and Servelots (janastu.org) in Bangalore, India. Their focus now is on storytelling methods and encouraging people from communities marginalised by the “literates”, especially women, to tell their own stories and participate in documentation of their ways of life. Towards this goal, initiatives like IruWay, a rural research lab; Anthillhacks, location-celebrating inclusive camps; Renarration Web, an annotations-driven social semantic web; COW mesh, a decentralised community mesh network with rich media services; and CrafterSpace, a crafts and maker space for women and youth, are finding momentous energies.
