What is the project about?
The socioeconomic and political context in Mexico is enabling the expansion of the “shared network” to rural areas, meaning that 4.5G mobile technology is being deployed near small communities. The commercialisation scheme for this network is through mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), who are allowed to serve end-users directly and get a percentage of the fees per user. Based on the example of an existing mobile community network, the purpose of this project is to develop the operational, economic and social model within communities in Oaxaca and Puebla for them to become a community social mobile virtual network operator (CS-MVNO) within their territory.
