The International Press Institute is now taking applications for the IPI Press Contest.
The goal of the contest is to encourage the expansion of online free media in Africa, the Middle East and Europe by working with mobile, digital and open-source technology. For- and non-profit organizations and individuals are encouraged to submit proposals for the future of news and digital media, with the winners receiving grants to develop their ideas.

There is a total of $2.7 million in grant money available.
The deadline for submissions is 1 June 2011.
