Biography

Sara Baker is a writer, activist and nonprofit consultant. Since 2013, she has served as APC's global coordinator of Take Back the Tech!, a collaborative campaign to encourage women to use technology to counter gender-based violence. Sara has developed culturally specific services for victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking; created curricula, guides and online resources related to gender-based violence; and successfully advocated for legislators, corporations and civil society to take action. She holds an MA in English with Writing Concentration from the University of Tennessee, and she has been featured in US and international media outlets such as the Washington Post, Time and the Guardian. In addition, she participates in such working groups as the Speech and Safety Coalition and the Online Harassment Task Force.

Purpose of position

Coordinate the campaign team and activities, and facilitate development of strategic direction of Take Back the Tech! as a sustained and growing platform for supporting collaborative activism to end online-gender based violence. Contribute to and implement APC WRP's movement building strategy.
