#FeministCSW61 – derechos de las mujeres en pugna
Una vez más el movimiento de mujeres debió organizarse para protestar y alterar con su activismo el intento de algunos gobiernos de impedir que sus representantes pudieran presenciar y participar en las sesiones de la Comisión de la condición jurídica y social de la mujer (CSW, por sus siglas en inglés), organismo intergubernamental que fue creado específicamente para considerar e impulsar la equidad de género y el empoderamiento de las mujeres a nivel mundial.

El segmento superior de la industria informática todavía aparece como un lugar atractivo. Esa cultura parece diseñada para casarte con tu trabajo, pero aún así es una posición que muchos profesionales envidian. Y por supuesto, como lo destacamos en la protesta de esta semana, no es en este lado de la industria donde están las mujeres. Las mujeres suelen estar en un sector menos visible, la parte que hace los juguetes con los que juegan (predominantemente) los varones.1

When once I registered for the 2017 Internet Freedom Festival in Valencia, I was added to a mailing list which had a constant flow of information on the festival and the activities related to it. Even before the schedule came out, the festival sounded fascinating, and distinctly different from other conferences, both national and international, which I have attended as of now.

El debate sobre el acoso callejero volvió a los muros de Facebook: memes donde se critica la “exageración” de las mujeres ante los comentarios como “guapa” o “mamacita”; predicciones sobre el fin de la especie a falta de frases románticas dichas por los hombres para conquistar; dichos como “adiós al romanticismo de barrio”; a los taxistas coquetos que se creían el taxista de la canción de Ricardo Arjona; adiós a los romeos de las obras de construcción.

For international women’s day, some human rights and technology groups threw a benefit party for Chelsea Manning in Valencia, Spain as part of the annual Internet Freedom Festival. Chelsea Manning is an important activist in internet freedom for using the online platform Wikileaks to inform the world about classified US documents revealing corruption and civilian casualties. She was recently pardoned for blowing the whistle in 2010 on the Iraq War, which then ended in 2011.

OTT services have become the main entry point to the Internet for most users in the prepaid mobile environment that characterises most African markets. To entice price-sensitive users and to encourage new Internet users, the availability of subsidised data – whether discounted or free – prompts questions of how Internet access and use are affected.
