Maya Sooka has worked in not-for-profit finance since the late 1980s. She was APC's finance manager from July 2000 to September 2011. She was APC's accountant from October 2011 to August 2016, and resumed the position of finance manager in September 2016. She has a diploma in small business management with a focus on finance and accounting. She brings a progressive, non-bureacratic approach to organisational finance and administration.
Purpose of position
The finance manager is responsible for overall control of APC’s finances. This includes ensuring expenditure is aligned with budgets and available funding and producing regular financial reporting to the APC board, management and on projects to project staff. It also involves making sure that APC complies with internationally agreed accounting principles and procedures and donor guidelines and requirements.
