The 48th Session of the Human Rights Council was held from 13 September to 8 October 2021. The HRC remains a key space for APC to raise concerns about threats and challenges to human rights online.
The joint report presented to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group ahead of its 38th session by TEDIC and APC consists of information around three specific areas related to online gender-based violence and access to justice in Paraguay. A synthesis of each of them is offered here.
TEDIC is a Paraguayan non-profit organisation founded in 2012 that develops open civic technology and defends digital rights for a free culture on the internet. And now it is also one of the APC network's newest member organisations!
Among the highlights of Asociación Trinidad’s work in 2016 were the activities undertaken as part of its ongoing project Mirá: Observatorio Ciudadano, a citizens’ observatory to ensure the effective implementation of Law 5.282/14 on access to public information and government transparency in the Municipality of Asunción, Paraguay.
In our Internet Rights Charter, we are clear that the collection, use, disclosure and retention of data must comply with transparent privacy policies and that all people have the right to privacy and freedom from surveillance. To those ends, APC supports the active movement against data retention laws in Paraguay.
