AlterMundi
For some time now, AlterMundi has been looking for ways to include children in their activities, both because of family dynamics and also because of how enjoyable it can be to share these experiences with children and the collective growth that can come out of them.
Between October 2016 and May 2017, the first edition of the Diploma Course for Community Promoters in Telecommunications and Broadcasting was held in Mexico. The course was attended by community communication organisations from six Mexican states, and a total of 36 participants.
AlterMundi member Nico Pace shared an account of his most recent travels related to the expansion of community networks with APC.
AlterMundi‘s most significant achievement in 2016 was obtaining a scale-up grant from the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean (FRIDA) for the LibreRouter project.
AlterMundi is, in the words of its members, “a network of activists, working with people with no knowledge of networks or information technology so that they can construct and maintain their own communications systems.” In March 2016, they decided to join the APC network.
They are called AlterMundi and describe themselves as a “network of activists, working with people with no knowledge of networks or information technology.” This year they won the 2015 award in the “Devices, Infrastructure and Technologies: Acceleration and expansion of access” category from the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean (FRIDA).
