Australia, South Korea join hands on iCommons project

COLLINGWOOD, Australia,

Producer and artistic director Andrew Garton of the Australia-based APC member Toy Satellite has left for Seoul, for work on a joint Creative Commons project. Over two weeks, he plans a “fairly daily blog from Seoul”.

This venture brings together Toy Satellite/OPENChannel and Jinbonet, Seoul in collaboration with Art Center Nabi and in association with the Australian Embassy Seoul.

Says Garton: “We aim to establish a bi-lingual iCommons site, with support from CC.au, that will feed content to various resources being developed for a collaborative sound and video performance to be staged in Seoul during the late quarter of the year (October 1-2, TBC).”

It is anticipated that the performances, conducted by some of the most established and well respected electronic composers in Australia along with Korean artistes, both emergent electronic artistes and traditional musicians, will assist in promoting CC initiatives in both countries.

A preliminary web site has been established with additional information is available here

This research trip has been funded by the Association for Progressive Communications and the Australian Network for Art and Technology.

Writes Garton: “Any assistance towards the realization of this project would be greatly appreciated. For further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me.” His email address is agarton at toysatellite.org
