APC’s communications, media and promotions management system is split up in seven work areas: content production, language, media, promotions, publications, websites and general newsletters and technical support.

Content

APC’s content niche is ICTs for social justice and sustainable development. We source our subject matter primarily from APC programme and APC member examples whenever possible.

We encourage a variety of content producers. They include staff writers based in different regions, APC members around the world, a pool of freelance writers whom we work with on a regular basis and website visitors (through comments, the APC blog, stories submitted to APCNews).

Our original content adheres to a multilingual editorial policy and language-specific house style guides.

Language

APC has been providing original content in English and Spanish on ICTs for development and social justice since 1999. The APC website launched in early 2008 moves us into regular content production in French and Portuguese.

We have produced training materials in Arabic and working with APC members the internet rights charter has been translated into almost twenty languages including Russian, Bengali, Urdu, Khmer, Macedonian and the African languages of Jju and Hausa.

Media

APC is a major reference point for the media world-wide as an international network promoting the use of internet for a better, more just world.

We work with a variety of alternative and established media, through our press lists, individualised collaboration and event-specific coverage.

Promotions and information dissemination

APC informs our audiences with content that is accessible and has depth not only through our news production but our dissemination materials as well such as brochures, infographics and video.

Publications

APC produces an average of six print publications a year. We always try to provide them in multiple languages and as a rule produce summaries in English, French and Spanish. Recent publications include Global Information Society Watch.

Websites and general newsletters

We strive to ensure APC.org and APCNews and her sister newsletters APCNoticias in Spanish and APCNouvelles in French are high-quality and vibrant, telling real-life stories of technology working for development and social equality.

Technical support

The communications team is responsible for ensuring the reliability of APC’s communications platforms, email and lists.

Monitoring and evaluation

The team carries out periodic evaluations of APC communications vehicles to evaluate if we are meeting our primary communications goals.
