Computer Aid International

Computer Aid International is a UK registered charity and the world’s largest provider of professionally refurbished PCs to the not-for-profit sector in the developing world. Our aim is to reduce poverty through practical ICT solutions. To date Computer Aid International has provided over 135,000 fully refurbished PCs – donated by UK employers and individuals – to where they are most needed in schools, hospitals and not-for-profit organisations in over 100 countries.

Computer Aid International is approached by many hundreds of overseas organisations who are interested in receiving refurbished Pentium computers. Many organisations apply for computers by completing an application online. For others who do not have access to the internet we will post or fax the application form. Computer Aid International will provide computers to non governmental organisations working in developing countries.

BlueLink Information Network

BlueLink is a virtual network offering a broad variety of internet based services for all those interested in issues related to the environment, natural resources and sustainable development in Bulgaria. It is a place to post and obtain information about domestic and international environmental news, events, campaigns, activities, and projects, as well as a forum to communicate and exchange ideas among environmentally concerned people from Bulgaria and all over the world.

BlueLink is convenient for the rapid dissemination and updating of information, for active communication and joint-problem solving among people involved in the environmental decision-making on regional, national and international levels. It is enhancing information-sharing and networking among Bulgarian non-governmental organisations for the alleviation of environmental problems.

The people behind BlueLink work to raise the awareness and educate the local community as a whole about environmentally related issues.

Fundación Escuela Latinoamericana de Redes - EsLaRed

Although EsLaRed was legally registered in November, 17, 1999 as an independent organisation, it has carried out training and dissemination activities on ICTs since 1992 through Universidad de los Andes. Based in Merida, Venezuela, EsLaRed is a non-profit, private, academic institution dedicated to the development and promotion of research and dissemination of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in its various forms.

The objectives of EsLaRed are:

  • To develop and promote activities of formation of human resources and research in Telecommunications, Computer Networks and Information Technologies in Latin America and the Caribbean;
  • To perform research and development on technology transfer and appropriate technology in order to foster scientific, technical and social progress in Latin America and the Caribbean;

To this end, EsLaRed will:

*Organise national and international courses, seminaries, symposia and
workshops; *Consult on ICT, drawing from our international team of experts and collaborators, developed through 18 years of activities, to cater to the needs of international organisations and local communities; *Undertake research and development on ICT with particular emphasis on the needs of the developing countries.

EngageMedia is a media, technology and culture organisation focused on the strategic use of video to address critical social and environmental issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ungana-Afrika is addressing the technology capacity crisis by building innovative support programs and tools that are empowering the development community. Nodo Tau

Nodo Tau is a non-profit civil society association made up by information and communications professionals, educators and social activists. Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET)

Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is a non-governmental organisation initiated in May 2000 by several women’s organisations in Uganda to develop the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among women as tools to share information and address issues collectively. WOUGNET’s vision is a society in which women are empowered through the use of ICTs for sustainable development.

WOUGNET’s mission is to promote and support the use of ICTs by women and women organisations in Uganda, so that they can take advantage of the opportunities presented by ICTs in order to effectively address national and local problems of sustainable development. The new ICTs, in particular, email and the Internet facilitate communication with each other and the international community. Indeed, access to information about best practices, appropriate technologies, ideas and problems of other groups working on similar concerns have been identified as critical information and communication needs of women organisations in Africa. WOUGNET activities are conducted under three program areas: Information Sharing and Networking, Technical Support, and Gender & ICT Policy Advocacy.
