Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. ICTs and particularly the internet are understood as being employed for sustainable development when they are put to work by the very communities that will be impacted by them and in a way that will spread the benefits of their use over future generations.
