Effective use of ICTs is essential to promote human and social
development. RITS produces and disseminates information as well
as develops strategies strengthening civil society networks, providing
them with technical support, internet services and ICT
skills. Furthermore, RITS is involved not only with critically monitoring
public policies related to ICTs and to democratizing their
resources for the purposes of human development but also with
developing and contributing to the implemention of those policies.
Freedom of expression and the communication rights of people,
organizations and communities; the internet as everybody’s
democratic space, an appropriate forum for stronger initiatives
and processes focused on building a fair world with less inequalities;
transparent, balanced and collaborative relations between
the different sectors of society—these are some of the underpinning
values and ideals for RITS’ actions.
