Internet Rights and Principles Coalition publishes its Internet Bill of Rights

The Internet Rights and Principles Coalition officially published its Internet Bill of Rights on March 31st as part of their second expert meeting in Sweden.

Co-organized by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion and Expression Mr. Frank La Rue, the meeting culminated in launching the bill in a number of languages.

The Internet Bill of Rights, based on the APC’s own Internet Rights Charter, is informed by the principles of universality and equality, accessibility, security and privacy. Its authors encourage readers to comment on the charter, saying “[w]e’re now actively seeking your comments and contributions to make sure that we’ve covered all of the issues in the right way.”

Efforts like these towards defining and establishing the guidelines for internet governance is an essential step towards building and securing a more just and sustainable internet.
