Being chosen as the 2015 Google fellow was and still is a surreal moment for me. Especially because I did not expect it and never thought out all the applicants I would be chosen. I would like to share my journey with you as to how I landed this great opportunity.

In March 2015 the UN Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights presented a report to the 28th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva regarding copyright policy in the context of cultural rights. APC joins the Global Library and Archives Community in welcoming the report that examines copyright from a critical but often neglected perspective: the human dimension.
“Cyber warfare and cyber security are of immense importance, the government should devise an internet governance policy in Pakistan.” This was one of the conclusions of the Pakistan Cyberspace Conference organised by APC member Bytes for All Pakistan in Islamabad.

Between the 7th and the 13th of February, APC staff flew from different parts of the globe to attend a team meeting at Mopani, a camp in the northern region of the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
The open internet, freedom of expression and online civic movements are the foci of the Global Voices Citizen Media Summit that will take place in Cebu, Philippines. APC is participating with two panels and a meeting on the limits and barriers to defend human rights on the internet from a local perspective.
