APC member Bytes for All has released “Social Media Ethics and Etiquette,” a booklet (v1.0) as a part of the 2013 Take Back the Tech! campaign. Its a compilation of best practices for social media ethics and etiquette, though rather than an authority on online behaviour, it provides guiding principles. Click to download the PDF.

Response to Pakistan's submission to the 24th Human Rights Council on the importance of multi-stakeholder Internet Governance

During General Debate on the promotion and protection of all human rights, Pakistan, speaking on behalf of 10 other countries, expressed concerns regarding use and abuse of advanced surveillance technologies in serious violation of the right to privacy and international law. Bytes for All, Pakistan and APC commend those countries for their statement. At the same time, we are concerned about proposals to develop a new intergovernmental mechanism of internet governance.

Take Back the Tech! campaigners sending its message loud and clear

This year’s Take Back the Tech! campaign started with a renewed liveliness. Colnodo, Bytes for All, Foundation for Media Alternatives, Si Jeunesse Savait, OneWorldsee and Mexico partners from the “End violence: Women’s rights and safety online” project are promoting a number of activities that call to end violence against women and to promote empowering online spaces for women and girls.

"Access is my right" campaign for a Pakistan free of censorship and surveillance

This campaign launched by APC member Bytes for All from Pakistan is a call for larger human rights movement in the country and citizens to fight the ongoing censorship as it will further take its toll on already compromised civil liberties in the country. All individuals are invited to join the movement and protest by sharing the campaign visuals over the internet.

It’s OurTube: Religion-based censorship will only fuel hate speech

Bytes for All, Pakistan, strongly condemns hate speech on the Internet, however banning channels of communication, limiting access to information platforms, and steps to curtail free expression only serve to pave the way for politics-based control systems that curb the voices of individuals.
