Internet Governance Forum
This document presents an overview of the main themes of the 2014 IGF from a civil society perspective. It is a great introduction for people who are new to the IGF process, as well as a useful guide for those already familiar with it.

The 9th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held from 2-5 September 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. A parallel event is being organised by Turkish and international civil society organisations called the “Internet Ungovernance Forum” (IUF) held from 4-5 September 2014.
APC and its community will remember the 2013 forum most for the impact of the Snowden revelations, ICANN and Brazil’s initative to convene an internet governance meeting in 2014, the hospitality of our Indonesian hosts, and for Miss Internet Bali. Read our full assessment.
The Bali IGF will be remembered by APC for four main reasons: the hospitality of our Indonesian hosts, the impact on the event of the Snowden revelations, the initiative by the Brazilian government and ICANN to convene an internet governance meeting in Brazil in 2014, and Miss Internet Bali.

The situation for Azerbaijani activists who work online did not improve after the IGF came to town in 2012. In fact, it actually became worse.
