exploratory research in five countries from different continents on the
internet's role in accessing information about sex education, health,
fighting sex discrimination and defining one’s own sexuality. The new

LUMPUR (Jac sm Kee for APC) - By limiting access to internet, claiming
to avoid obscenity and preserve gender and sexual norms, governments
are actually preventing communities from exercising their rights and
freedoms. The growing practice of regulation may have an impact in how
people learn about sexuality and express it - especially the most
affected by regulation, women and people of diverse sexualities. APC’s
EroTICs research was carried out in Brazil, India, Lebanon, South
Africa and the USA. The EroTICs issue paper contains executive
summaries of each country's findings as well as an incisive

Nairobi, Kenya from 27-30 September 2011. The theme is
'internet as a catalyst for change: access, development, freedoms and

(Gates Foundation) -- APC member in Kenya, the Arid Lands
Information Network (ALIN), which provides knowledge and information
through a variety of innovative channels in remote communities
throughout Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania has received the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation 2011 Access to Learning Award. The communities
use ALIN’s knowledge centres to gain information to improve their
