TBTT grantee is now a registered NGO

Gawaahi is an initiative by Naveen Naqvi, a famous television personality & journalist, and Sana Saleem, a blogger, editor, writer, activist & medical student. Gawaahi.com archives and makes available on the internet digital stories of people of Pakistan, and particularly the stories of women who have survived violence. They won a small grant form the MDG3 Take Back the Tech! Fund and are now a registered NGO.

Here is an account of their first activity by Naveen Naqvi:

I have some good news — Gawaahi is now a registered NGO under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961. For our first activity, on June 15, we held a counseling session in the style of a story circle, and we did this at Panah, a shelter home for women in Karachi. As the people behind the shelter describe it, Panah ‘provides shelter and solace to women who are survivors of domestic and societal injustices and empowers them to take the path of socio economic independence.’
