APCNews – May 09 2011 – Year XI Issue 141 • In India police note that of all cybercrime cases reported almost half are filed by women who discover their faces morphed onto pornographic images and posted online, usually accompanied by a personal phone number and an invitation for strangers to call. False postings to popular websites have led to violent attacks and harassment of women. APC has now put together several tips – in English, French and Spanish – for anyone worried about being harrassed online. And especially for World Press Freedom Day on May 3 there are also tips for citizen journalists. The tip sheets have been hailed by women's groups and will soon be available in Filipino, Malay and Urdu. If you'd like to translate the tips too, contact info@apc.org.
