Japan Computer Access for Empowerment (JCAFE)

JCAFE aims to support the growth of civic activities on the internet by providing instruction and assistance in the use of information strategies and internet technology. JCAFE also aims to support the promotion and protection of the voices of the people on the internet. These goals are key to the future success of civic activities online.

JCAFE has been supporting non-governmental organisations in their use of the internet since 1993. It offers a variety of consulting and other services to NGOs. JCAFE studies privacy issues in the information society, holds seminars and develops tools that protect privacy. The study on the ideal uses of the information technology in the present-day society is also a specialisation area which proposes policies on activities to improve citizens’ awareness of ICTs.
