, June 2011

In 2006, it was established by the International Telecoms Union that all countries should switch over from analogue to digital by the year 2015. In order to bring more awareness to the process and its fast-approaching deadlines, the APC and Balancing Act, in collaboration with the Open Society Initiative have sponsored a digital migration workshop for WATRA members in Accra in June 2010.

This informative workshop report by WATRA outlines the major discussion points and issues brought up by presenters during the workshop – such as benefits and the various challenges related to the transition, and provides country summaries for three countries that are at different stages of the migration: Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal (in French only). It also provides concrete recommendations, suggestions and best practices on how to make the transition more smooth and effective for those involved in the process.
