In January, Lina Soo, a MDG3 small grant winner, in collaboration with APC partner EMPOWER, held a two-day workshop called “ICTs and Cyber Violence Against Women” in Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia to raise awareness of violence against women using ICTs. Participants, including members of 30 local government and non-government organisations, learned how to work together to use ICTs to advance women’s rights. They were trained in basic ICT skills such as creating mailing lists, databases, and blogs, as well as ICT safety including online security and cyber-stalking. Video footage from the seminar can be found here and here.
