Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) and with other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has been continuing advocacy with the Government for a long time to open up the Community Radio in Bangladesh.

I am really surprised to read the recent posting on the malpractices of a Bangladeshi NGO. We are really shocked to introduce ourselves that we belong to this community.

How come an organization can bag two of the international prestigious awards with such false interventions? With whom we are playing such nasty game? From my childhood I was feeling proud that my country is full of river and boats are one of the major attractions of many of our childhoods. But doing such corrupted business with river and boat is really an innovation!! Shame for such innovation!

Recently, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has taken a strategic campaign program where the Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Hon'ble Chief Adviser of the Non-Party Care Taker Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Adviser of the Ministry of Information and the Mr. Didarul Anower, Secretary of the Ministry of Information were included.

Under the campaign program, an appeal was made to allow the draft broadcasting policy, side by side the Govt. was requested to give permission for launching some community radio as pilot basis. On the basis of the findings of the pilot project, Govt. can allow the full pledged community radio in the country for long term.

As a result of the strategic campaign, for the first time, a high level meeting was organized by the Ministry of Information regarding community radio. The meeting was held at the conference room of the ministry at 11 a.m. on July 23, 2007.

Al Alegre of FMA (Philippines) lent me these books, which made for an interesting and exciting browse. After sharing a link to these, another friend, Michel Bauwens of the P2PFoundation.net went on to point me to this very rich and impressive collection of books on peer production, Free and Open Source Software production and philosophy, P2P management and leadership, political and social change, P2P culture, and more.

AllAfrica.com has this story titled Nigeria: ICT as a Development Tool which looks at examples from Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ethiopia. It seems almost unreal to engage in conversations about
desire at a 15th Century fort in India, but that's exactly what Cheekay Cinco and
I did from 7 - 10 March. APC WNSP
organised a panel and workshop at Films of Desire, an event that brought together activists, human
rights advocates, film makers and academics to engage in dialogue around the socio-political
dimensions of representation. The focus of the event was around sexualities,
and how their mis/non/positive representations on screen is related to real
life negotiations on this difficult and shifting terrain.
